This is because it was my first time travelling alone. Before that, I always used to travel with my family or my friends. Before starting travelling alone, I always wondered – How to travel alone ? And I think I have finally found the answer!
Solo Travelling 101 : How To Travel Alone
Solo travelling has taught me a lot of things which improves one’s personality and the way of looking at someone’s life. You get a lot of knowledge and self confidence when you start travelling alone. Also, you can travel on your terms; you can eat without considering your travel partner.
Also, you will never be late as nobody is there to keep you waiting! These sound like heaven and paradise to some people, however travelling alone is a big task. It is even harder when you are travelling to a place which is completely unique to your understanding.
Top Solo Travelling Tips for Amature travellers
I have learned a lot while travelling, and today in this article I’m going to give you some tips which will help you to make the most out of your solo trip.
1. Leave yourself some flexibility
You should always give yourself some time and flexibility when you’re travelling alone. Constant moving from one place to another and checking out all the fight scenes will eventually exhaust you completely. To avoid that, take some short breaks time to time, relax and enjoy the nature and your surrounds. You can use this time to take a sip of tea or coffee and hold a small conversation with people. This will recharge your travel batteries and will energize you for the rest of the day.
Sometimes its also good to forget about everything you just planned and just sit on a bench in a park. You can also wander off the streets, hang out with local people in a cafe or a restaurant, whatever you want or whatever floats your boat. In case your travel batteries have some juice, and you don’t want to charge, you can pick up some sightseeing and explore it!
2. Take a day tour
Where ever you’re deciding your next destination, I’m sure there will be a lot of day tour options. The ones I love the most are shopping tours and food tours. I mean who doesn’t like shopping and food? I encourage every traveller to buy some souvenirs for their friends and families. This will help you to express your solo trip even better. And eventually, you will like it too!
Another option is food tours. You can wander in streets if you’re a street food lover. Or you can always hit some restaurants to check out special cuisine. My favourite technique is to eat 50% from street food and 50% from restaurants. One more tip, always try to skip the street food as dinner. It might give you a bad stomach next morning.

3. Keep your medicines along with you
So, despite of me being telling you not to eat street food at night, you did it anyway. Well, who doesn’t like tasty spicy food? But now your stomach is aching, or you’re getting stomach cramps or loose motions. Well, you should also have medicines along with you to keep your gut and body healthy.
Sometimes these medicines can be helpful for other travellers too. You can offer them basic medications for headache glucose, paracetamol or citizen. This will help you further socialize, and who knows, it might even start a new friendship.
4. Be safe when you travel alone
Well, whenever you’re leaving for your first solo trip, your friends, your parents, and your relatives will tell you to be safe and take care of yourself. And this is a very important aspect of how to travel alone. Solo travelling will definitely teach you how to take care of yourself.
Travelling is not very dangerous as people try to make it seem. However, there’s nothing wrong with taking some extra steps ensuring your safety. After all, you are in a new place where you know nobody, right? So better take precautions. Do not try to do something offensive, don’t over drink and cause nuisance, don’t fight with people. And most importantly, follow the rules of that particular area you are travelling.
